Met steun van de Deccan Development Society (DDS) zetten vrouwen samen collectieven op en namen zo de voedselproductie voor de lokale bevolking (weer) in eigen hand. Ze weigeren te produceren voor de export. Ze bedrijven traditionele vormen van kleinschalige ecologische landbouw met een systeem van combinatieteelt en een verscheidenheid van gewassen.
